Immanuel Vision
By Pastor Steve
February brings more things to love! Winter can finally look beautiful with fresh fallen snow and colorful sunrises. Marriages are strengthened and families are reminded of the blessings that the Lord provides! For Immanuel, February brings enrollment for the school, budget planning, and dreams for the future of our ministry! At the January congregational meeting, Immanuel saw great attendance and voted unanimously to take the first big step into a building project. In this vision update, I’d like to share what that means so that you know how you can be a part of the great things happening at Immanuel.
This means that we are spending some money to invest in the idea of a building project. This building project concept has been developed based on a 15-year-old master plan that had Immanuel serving two classes per grade like we are now. We spent 2023 looking at what needs we have and began putting names on the spaces that we know we need (everyone knows we need space, but this was helping us identify what the space was going to be used for). In 2024, we spend the early part of the year sharing what we believe would meet those identified needs. In January we presented a plan and throughout February and March, we listened to feedback from the Immanuel community. Then in May of 2024, Immanuel formed a building committee to prepare recommendations for stepping into a building project.
Now these recommendations have been adopted and we are working on contracts with JH Hassinger to be our construction partner for this design-build project. They will help us develop the current design and prepare build documents as we move toward actually building. The building committee will work on developing the design and share the process as we aim for a project cost of about $7,500,000. Renderings, designs, and video concepts will be shared throughout the campaign.
The funding for this project will need to come from many sources. Immanuel will continue to aggressively plan our budget so that we can support a mortgage payment for this project using the planning time to not only pay off debt (as we have), but to ensure that we can continue ministry safely with a larger commitment as we build for our future. To aid in this process, Immanuel has partnered with The Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) to help us in evaluating our ministry readiness and, Lord willing, raise funds to support this project.
The Immanuel community, will have opportunities to share their thoughts and perspectives on our ministry throughout March and April by way of surveys (electronically sent to everyone), forums (3-5 opportunities to meet in small groups and discuss our ministry with facilitators), and individual interviews (about 40 meetings with our LCEF representative discussing our ministry). I cannot encourage you enough, to take the time to be fully a part of Immanuel and this process.
In the late summer and early fall, Immanuel will be working to procure grants and gifts to accomplish this huge goal. Our plan is that this will follow the process that David walked through when preparing to build the Temple of the Lord (1 Chron 29). Our leaders and staff will be the first to give toward our building project. Then we will invite the church, school, and child care community to be a part of the big things that God is doing at Immanuel. Finally, we will work with our business partners to work to bring this dream into reality with His blessings. Immanuel will vote to take this final step with a full understanding of how much money we have raised toward this project and a plan on how we can accomplish this within our budget plan so that our ministry remains financially healthy.
Please pray for this process daily. Ask the Lord to open doors if this project is in accordance with His will and to close doors if He doesn’t want Immanuel to take this step. Pray about how you can be involved and if the Lord directs you to fill out a survey, attend a forum, or consider a gift that you might be able to give! If you would like to be involved in a different way or have any questions, please reach out and take the time to sit down and talk with me. Above all, pray that the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all!

Managing Marriage
By Pastor Steve
God invites us to focus on what we can do in marriage when growth in marriage doesn’t seem to be a team effort. The reality of marriage is that we offer to give love to our spouse no matter what. This vow is a covenant of unlimited responsibility, not a contract ensuring that we get certain things. We promise with our word before God, family, and church that we will live out our love through both good and bad times. I am sure none of us fully knew what we were saying, but this is still the vow we strive to live! This month, I encourage us to focus on how to infuse joy into our marriage in any and every situation with these five expressions of love.
Affirm your love. It is true that no matter what our situation is, we fail to express our love the way that we should. Take special time this month to express your love for your spouse in your words. That’s right, choose to say “I love you” each and every day (for the overachiever, multiple times a day).
Define your love. First Corinthians thirteen serves as the fullest definition of love in sacred page. Throughout February, allow your focus to be on fulfilling and living out your love until you can put your name in place of love. “Steve” is patient, Steve is kind…” (to be honest, I fall short on the first one!).
Live faithfully. Love often gets clouded by our emotions and at times takes the role of defining our love. Faithfulness on the other hand allows us the freedom to serve, care, and support our spouse no matter the circumstances; it places us in control of our emotions, rather than being controlled by them. Faithfulness moves us back toward our wedding vows and opens our eyes to what we promised to offer to our spouse – love, respect, honor, and keeping them!
Picture it. Find your favorite picture of you and your spouse and make sure it is always in front of you. If you have a desk, put it on the desk. Park one in your car so that you see it each time you drive. Put one in your closet, so that you remember the best of your marriage and the best of your spouse each and every day.
Finally, Write it out. In this world where there are cards that say just about anything you want them to, your words will always mean more. Write a letter or a note to your spouse about the best things in your marriage. Share with them how much they mean to you, and what you look forward to in the years to come.
Keep living a life of love until the day you can stand up and say, “I always protected, always trusted, always hoped, and always persevered in my marriage. Our love never failed”.

School Mission
By Jen Comfort
This week our staff and students celebrated Lutheran Schools Week. Fun activities for the week included dress up days, a treasure hunt, a middle school spelling bee, and a pep rally! We are blessed to provide a Lutheran education to our students where they can grow spiritually, academically, and socially.
Even though we are only halfway through this year, it is time to start planning for enrollment for the 25-26 school year. We look forward to welcoming prospective families to our building for one one-on-one tours and our open house on February 13th. Spread the word of our great school ministry to families looking for a school. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
